The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is a central University based in New Delhi, India. Originally, the University was established in 1920 in Aligarh, United Province, now, Uttar Pradesh (UP). Later, because of political disturbances, the University was shifted to Karol Bagh in New Delhi. The foundation stone of new campus in South Delhi was laid on March 1, 1935. The University Grants Commission (UGC) of India accorded the Deemed to be University status on Jamia Millia Islamia in 1962. By a Special Act of the Parliament, Jamia Millia Islamia was made a central University of India in December 1988.
Being a Deemed University, the Jamia Millia Islamia enjoys complete freedom to design its own courses, conduct entrance exam for admission and offer degrees and certificates. Courses are recognized from various apex bodies of government, viz; University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Bar Council of India (BCI), etc. The alumni of Jamia Millia Islamia enjoy full freedom both in India as well as in foreign institutes and industry for pursuing further education and doing work.
The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) offers under graduate and postgraduate programs in numerous study areas, viz; humanities, sciences, engineering, law and mass comm etc. The University offers both full time and part time programs though various faculties and departments. The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) conducts entrance test, interview and group discussion etc for admission into various programs. A single common notification
is made by the University's admission cell regarding admission into all

The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is a residential University and offers living facilities to both boys and girls. Admissions into hostels are purely made on the basis of merit. Part Time
program student cannot avail the hostel facilities. All hostels of
Jamia offer mess facility, medical care and communication etc. The Jamia
takes care for overall development of learners and hence offers
facilities for sports and games and other activities as well. Various
debates, quiz and hobby competitions also held time to time. Faculty and
Staff members are offered residences.
The Jamia Millia Islamia has various libraries added with different
faculties. The central library is one of the most happening hubs of
Jamia, a best place in the Jamia Millia Islamia campus for knowledge
exchange. Students of all faculties can access resources of central
library in addition to faculty library. The library is named after Dr.
Zakir Hussain, the ex- Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia and
ex-President of India.
He was the Life Member of Jamia Millia Islamia. The Zakir Hussain
Library has collection of some rare books and periodicals, access to
which is limited.
The Jamia Millia Islamia is one of the most sought after
destination among learners. Students from all corners of the country
apply for taking admission into Jamia. The Jamia Millia Islamia called
itself the Islamic institution and hence offers special reservations to
Muslim candidates. Admission is also offered to foreign nationals both
Muslims and Non Muslims. To promote sports and games the Jamia Millia
Islamia offers concession in admission criteria to distinguished sports
person.
The Jamia Millia Islamia University has dedicated placement cell to help students of professional programs like Engineering and Management
etc in finding job. Noted national and international business houses
visits Jamia Millia Islamia for picking best technologists, managers and
specialists. In 2008 – 09, students of Jamia Millia Islamia found work
opportunities in organizations like DRDO, TCS, L&T etc. The Lanco
Infratech offered the highest pay package of 4.54 lac per annum to 19
candidates of Jamia.

JMI Engineering Entrance Exam
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is a central university
in New Delhi. The school has several departments for technical and
non-technical subjects. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology is one
such department, offering several programmes in engineering, scientific
and technological disciplines at diploma, graduate, postgraduate and
research levels. Some programmes are offered as part-time courses.
Admission to all programmes is made on the basis of an entrance
examination. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology conducts separate
entrance examinations for separate streams of study. The Jamia Millia Islamia Engineering Entrance Exam 2014 will be conducted on 14 June, 2014
(full time) and 8 November, 2014 (evening) for admission to various
B.E/ B.Tech. programmes offered by the JMI Faculty of Engineering and
